Every turbocharged engine we stock, by engine code

Turbocharged engines are bought by engine code far more often than by model name, because a single nameplate can carry three different turbo engines across one generation. This index lists every turbo family currently on the shelf.

Ford and Lincoln EcoBoost turbo engines

Ford EcoBoost is the single deepest turbo group here: 14 listings across four engine codes, priced from $2,499 to $2,899. All of them carry a Remanufactured condition flag in our catalogue. The code stamped on the engine matters more than the model year, because Ford changed EcoBoost hardware mid-generation on the Escape, Fusion and MKZ without changing the badge.

CAF488WQ2 — 2.0L EcoBoost, 2013–2018

Five listings at $2,799, covering the earlier 2.0L EcoBoost found in the Escape, Fusion, Focus ST, Lincoln MKZ and Lincoln MKC. This is the group most often replaced after coolant intrusion into the cylinders.

CAF488WQ5 — 2.0L EcoBoost, 2015–2020

Five listings at $2,499 and the largest unit count in the whole turbo collection. This is the later 2.0L EcoBoost used in the Edge, Escape, Fusion, Lincoln MKC and Lincoln MKZ. If your Escape sits on the 2013–2016 side, you need WQ2 instead.

Hyundai and Kia 2.0T Theta II (G4KH) turbo engines

Eleven G4KH listings, split into two generations that share a name and very little else. Both are flagged New in our catalogue. Getting the generation wrong is the most common ordering error on this family, because Hyundai and Kia carried the same 2.0T badge across the change.

G4KH Gen 1 — 2011–2016

Four listings at $1,949 for the Sonata, Santa Fe, Optima and Sportage. On the 2012–2015 Optima this engine is identified by VIN 6 in the 8th digit.

New and remanufactured turbo engines in this collection

Of the 51 turbo listings in stock, 35 are catalogued as New and 16 as Remanufactured. The split is not random: the entire Ford and Lincoln EcoBoost group and both Subaru FA20DIT listings are remanufactured, while the Audi 2.0T, Hyundai and Kia G4KH, GM 1.4L and all four turbo diesel families are catalogued as new.

What arrives when you order a turbo engine

Engines ship as bare long blocks with minimal external accessories. Plan to transfer your own intake and exhaust manifolds, sensors, brackets and accessories from the original engine during installation.

The turbocharger itself is an external component. Do not assume a turbo arrives bolted to the long block. Call 877-900-2695 and confirm what is attached to the specific listing you are ordering before you schedule the installation, so your shop can plan for a turbo swap, a new oil feed line and fresh gaskets if they are needed.

Two practical consequences on a turbocharged install. First, a failed turbo frequently puts debris into the oil circuit, so the feed and return lines and the oil cooler are worth inspecting rather than reusing blind. Second, the hardware that bolts a turbo to the head is routinely seized on high-mileage cars; order gaskets and studs with the engine instead of discovering it on the lift.

How to confirm the right turbo engine for your vehicle

Displacement and model year are not enough to confirm fitment on a turbocharged engine. Hyundai and Kia ran two different G4KH generations under one badge, Ford ran WQ2 and WQ5 variants of the same 2.0L EcoBoost in the same nameplates, and Audi ran three EA888 codes through the A4 and Q5. Before you order, have four things in front of you:

  1. Year, make and model including the trim, since turbo and non-turbo trims share a body.
  2. Displacement as printed on the engine cover or in the owner manual.
  3. The engine code stamped on the block — CAF488WQ5, G4KH, CPM, LE2, FA20DIT and so on.
  4. The engine digit in your VIN, which is the 8th digit on most of these vehicles and the 5th on the Audi A4.

Use the Year / Make / Model filter at the top of this page to narrow the grid, then confirm the exact listing with Power Engines on 877-900-2695 or through the contact page before ordering. We would rather spend five minutes on the phone than have the wrong long block sitting on your shop floor.

Why turbocharged engines fail, and when replacement beats repair

Turbocharged engines fail in patterns that a naturally aspirated engine does not share. Higher cylinder pressure and higher exhaust temperature put sustained load on head gaskets, piston rings and bearings, and direct injection removes the fuel wash that used to keep intake valves clean.

The common endpoints we see on the phone:

  • Coolant intrusion into a cylinder on the 2.0L EcoBoost, usually showing as misfires and coolant loss with no external leak.
  • Rod bearing and rotating-assembly damage on the Theta II family after oil starvation.
  • Carbon buildup on intake valves across every direct-injected turbo here, showing as rough cold running and a drop in boost response.
  • Turbo failure that feeds debris back through the oil system, which is what turns a turbo replacement into an engine replacement.

The decision point is usually cost rather than diagnosis. Once a repair quote covers a head gasket, machine work and the labour to pull the engine anyway, a complete long block at $1,849 to $4,999 with a six-month warranty is often the cheaper finish line. Compare the replacement options here.

Shipping, local pickup and lead time

Orders placed before 2pm EST ship the same day from our Hawthorne, New Jersey warehouse. Engines move by freight on a pallet, and the rate depends on where it is going and what equipment is at the delivery end.

DestinationBusiness, no liftgateBusiness with liftgateResidential with liftgate
East coast and midwest$295$355$445
West coast and mountain states$395$455$545

Delivery to a commercial address with a forklift is the cheapest option by a wide margin, so shipping to your installer rather than your driveway is usually worth asking about. Within 30 miles of the Hawthorne warehouse, local delivery and warehouse pickup are both available at no charge. We do not ship to Hawaii, Alaska or Puerto Rico. Full terms are on the shipping policy page.

Warranty, returns and what is covered

Every turbo engine on this page carries a 6-month warranty from the date of delivery, with no core charge at any point. Two conditions decide whether a claim stands:

  • The engine must be installed within 30 days of delivery.
  • Installation must be carried out by an ASE-certified shop.

Coverage applies to internal lubricated parts. Cracks are not covered, and covers, seals and gaskets are not warranted. Returns are accepted within 30 days; a 20% restocking fee applies to engines returned unboxed. The complete text is on the warranty page and the refund policy.

Buying a turbo engine without a core charge

Power Engines does not hold a core deposit. Most remanufactured-engine suppliers do, which means the advertised price is not the price you pay at checkout — you pay a deposit on top and get it back only after your old engine is crated, shipped back and inspected. On a turbo engine that is a real problem, because a failed turbo often takes the old block out of core-eligible condition.

What that changes practically: the price on each listing on this page is what you pay for the engine, you are not holding a second payment on a card for weeks, and you are free to scrap or keep the old long block. For a shop quoting a customer, it also removes the line item that makes a quote look higher than a competitor who quoted without the deposit.

Turbo engine questions we get on the phone

Can I put a turbo engine in a car that came non-turbo?

Not as a straight swap. The turbo and non-turbo versions of these engines differ in fuel system, engine management, cooling and exhaust, and the wiring and ECU will not carry over. The listings on this page are sold as replacements for vehicles that left the factory turbocharged.

Do these engines come with a warranty if I install them myself?

No. The warranty requires installation by an ASE-certified shop within 30 days of delivery. If you are doing the work yourself, you can still buy the engine, but the warranty terms will not apply.

How do I tell a G4KH Gen 1 from a Gen 2?

Generation follows the model year range and the VIN engine digit rather than the badge. The Gen 1 listings here cover 2011–2016 Sonata, Santa Fe, Optima and Sportage; the Gen 2 listings cover 2015 onward. The full comparison is here, and a phone call to 877-900-2695 settles it in a minute.

Is a remanufactured turbo engine a downgrade?

It is a different product, not a lesser one. A remanufactured long block is disassembled, machined back to specification and reassembled with new wear parts, and it carries the same 6-month warranty as the new listings on this page. The comparison guide sets out where each one makes sense.

Can I collect the engine myself?

Yes. Warehouse pickup at 55 Thomas Rd N, Hawthorne, NJ 07506 is free, and local delivery within 30 miles is free as well. Call ahead on 877-900-2695 so the pallet is staged when you arrive.
