Remanufactured engines: prices, engine codes, fitment and warranty
How much does a remanufactured engine cost?
At Power Engines a remanufactured engine costs between $1,499 and $6,449, with a median price of $2,699 across the 68 remanufactured listings currently in stock. The cheapest engine in the collection is the 2002-2006 Honda CR-V 2.4L K24A1 at $1,499; the most expensive is the 2021-2023 Audi A4 3.0L CWG V6 at $6,449. Four-cylinder units sit mostly between $1,499 and $2,899, and V6 units between $2,499 and $4,999.
Two things are not in that price and never will be. There is no core charge on any engine we sell, so you are not asked to put down an extra $500 to $1,500 against the return of your old block, and you do not have to crate and ship a dead engine back to claim a deposit. And the price you see is the price of the engine itself, quoted per unit, not a "starting from" figure that changes at checkout. Shipping is quoted separately by destination, or you can collect the engine yourself at our Hawthorne, New Jersey warehouse at no cost.
Remanufactured engines in stock: 21 engine families, 369 units
Everything below is physically in stock and buyable today. We publish the engine code, the displacement, the vehicles each unit fits, the model-year range and the unit count, because on a replacement engine the engine code is what decides whether the part fits, not the vehicle name.

Stock is pooled by engine code. A single 3RZ-FE long block, for example, is listed separately under Toyota T100, 4Runner and Tacoma because those three vehicles share the same engine, so the 69 units shown against that family are the same pool of 69 engines rather than 69 per listing.
What "remanufactured" means on this page
A remanufactured engine is a used core that has been completely disassembled, cleaned, measured, machined back to factory specification and reassembled with new wear parts. That is a different process from a rebuild, and the distinction is the single most useful thing to understand before you spend $2,000 or more.
Every engine in this collection is supplied as a bare long block. That means the block, crankshaft, pistons, connecting rods, cylinder head or heads, camshafts, valvetrain and timing components are included and assembled. It does not include the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, turbocharger, fuel injectors, sensors, alternator, starter, power-steering pump, air-conditioning compressor, flywheel or flexplate, clutch, torque converter or wiring harness. Those parts move across from your existing engine, which is normal practice for engine replacement and is why the installer, not the parts supplier, is the person who decides what else needs replacing while the engine is out.
Remanufactured vs rebuilt vs used: the difference that actually matters
Used engine. Pulled from a donor vehicle and sold as-is. Internal wear is whatever the donor accumulated, and nobody has measured it. Cheapest option, highest variance.
Rebuilt engine. Opened up and repaired to fix the specific fault that killed it. Worn parts get replaced; parts still inside tolerance usually stay. Two rebuilt engines of the same code can therefore contain quite different amounts of original wear, because the work is fault-driven.
Remanufactured engine. Stripped to the bare block regardless of the original fault, machined to factory tolerance and rebuilt to one fixed specification with new bearings, seals, gaskets, rings and timing components. The point of the process is that the output is consistent rather than fault-specific.
If you are choosing between the three, we wrote a longer comparison in New vs remanufactured vs rebuilt vs used engines, and a cost-focused version for Honda owners in Honda engine replacement vs rebuild. If you would rather buy an engine that has never run at all, our brand new engines collection carries zero-mile units instead.
No core charge, ever: what that is worth
Most remanufactured-engine suppliers in the United States quote a price and then add a core charge, typically $500 to $1,500, held until you ship your old engine back. The deposit is refundable in theory. In practice you pay freight both ways on a 300 to 500 pound object, you have to keep the old engine intact and drainable, and you have to meet the return window while your vehicle is off the road.
Power Engines does not charge a core fee on any engine, and we do not ask for your old block back. On a $2,699 remanufactured 2GR-FE that is the difference between a $2,699 invoice and a $3,699 outlay you have to chase back. It also means your installer can scrap the old engine locally instead of building a crate for it.
Remanufactured engine prices by brand
Toyota, Lexus, Scion and Pontiac remanufactured engines
Toyota is the deepest part of the collection: 30 Toyota listings plus three Lexus, one Scion and one Pontiac, all sharing Toyota engine codes. The truck engines are the volume lines. The 2.7L 3RZ-FE covers 1994-2004 T100, 4Runner and Tacoma with 69 units on the shelf at $2,599, and the 3.4L 5VZ-FE V6 covers the same generation of trucks plus the Tundra. Both are 4-and-8-port intake variants, so check which intake your vehicle uses before ordering. On the modern side the 1GR-FE splits into a Gen1 4.0L V6 for 2005-2011 4Runner, Tundra and Tacoma at $4,299 and a Gen2 Dual VVT-i version for 2010-2020 FJ Cruiser, Tundra and 4Runner at $4,999 - the two are not interchangeable, and the guide at 1GR-FE Gen1 vs Gen2 explains how to tell them apart.
The 3.5L V6 also splits into two generations. The 2GR-FE at $2,699 covers 2005-2016 Avalon, RAV4, Camry, Highlander, Sienna, Venza and the Lexus RX350, and is supplied with the oil cooler. The later 2GR-FKS at $3,999 covers 2016-2024 Camry, Avalon, Highlander, Sienna, Lexus RX350 and ES350 and is identified by the letter Z as the fifth digit of the VIN. If your 2GR-FE is burning oil or ticking rather than dead, read 2GR-FE reliability and when to replace it first - some of those faults are cheaper to fix than to replace.
Four-cylinder Toyota stock runs from the 2.4L 2AZ-FE at $1,799, which is the single most cross-compatible unit here (RAV4, Corolla XRS, Matrix XR, Scion xB and Pontiac Vibe), through the 2.7L 1AR-FE at $2,499 for Venza, Highlander and Sienna, to the 1.8L 2ZR-FXE hybrid unit for the 2010-2015 Prius at $2,499. See also Toyota engines, Lexus engines, Scion engines, truck and commercial engines and hybrid engines.
Ford and Lincoln remanufactured EcoBoost engines
Ten Ford listings and four Lincoln listings, and almost all of it is EcoBoost turbo stock. The 2.0L splits by casting code: CAF488WQ2 at $2,799 covers 2013-2018 Escape, Fusion, Focus ST, Lincoln MKZ and MKC, while CAF488WQ5 at $2,499 covers 2015-2020 Edge, Escape, Fusion, Lincoln MKC and MKZ FWD. Those two codes look identical on a parts list and are not interchangeable, which is the most common ordering mistake we see on this line. The 2.3L CAF488WQGA at $2,899 covers 2015-2022 Mustang and 2016-2019 Explorer and has the deepest Ford stock at 33 units. The 1.0L three-cylinder M1DA at $2,499 covers 2014-2017 Fiesta and 2015-2018 Focus, identified by the letter E as the eighth VIN digit.
If your 2.0L EcoBoost is losing coolant rather than compression, coolant intrusion symptoms and when to replace covers what is worth diagnosing before you buy. For displacement identification see 1.5L vs 2.0L EcoBoost fitment, and for the removal itself how to replace a 2017-2019 Escape engine. Related collections: Ford engines, Lincoln engines and turbo engines.
Honda and Acura remanufactured engines
The Honda line is the cheapest entry point in the collection. The 2.4L K-series covers three generations: K24A1 at $1,499 for the 2002-2006 CR-V, K24Z1 at $1,599 for the 2007-2009 CR-V, and the Earth Dreams K24W1 / K24W9 at $1,999 for the 2013-2017 Accord and 2015-2019 CR-V. The three are not interchangeable despite sharing a displacement, and the differences are laid out in the K24 engine guide. The 3.5L J35Z2 V6 at $2,599 covers the 2008-2012 Accord, 2010-2012 Crosstour and 2013-2015 Acura RDX; for that job see how to replace a 2008-2012 Accord engine. Related: Honda engines and Acura engines.

Subaru remanufactured engines
Two Subaru families, both boxer four-cylinders. The 2.5L EJ25 AVLS at $2,499 covers 2006-2009 Forester, Impreza, Legacy and Outback - the SOHC AVLS variant specifically, not the earlier DOHC or the later FB25. The 2.0L FA20DIT turbo at $4,999 covers the 2014-2018 Forester XT and 2015-2021 Impreza WRX. On a boxer engine, head-gasket failure and ring wear tend to arrive together, which is why a remanufactured short-to-long block is usually the better economics than a head-only repair. See Subaru engines and the Forester engine replacement guide.

Hyundai and Kia remanufactured engines
One family, five vehicles. The 3.3L G6DH V6 at $4,299 covers the 2012-2017 Hyundai Azera, 2013-2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, 2014-2016 Kia Cadenza, 2014-2018 Kia Sorento and 2015-2018 Kia Sedona. This is the V6 side of the Hyundai-Kia range; the far more common four-cylinder Theta II and Gamma II units are stocked as brand new rather than remanufactured, so if you are replacing a 2.0L or 2.4L GDI engine look under Hyundai engines, Kia engines or Theta II engines instead of this page. Removal guides: Santa Fe 2013-2016 and Sorento 2014-2015.

Audi remanufactured engines
One remanufactured Audi unit: the 3.0L CWG V6 for the 2021-2023 A4, at $6,449, which is the highest-priced engine on the site. The rest of the Audi range - the EA888 2.0T codes and the five-cylinder units - is stocked as brand new, so see Audi engines for the full line and VW / Audi 2.0T EA888 engines for the four-cylinder turbo family.

Warranty, and the installation window that goes with it
Every remanufactured engine we sell carries a 6-month warranty. The warranty runs from the date of delivery and it requires the engine to be installed within 30 days of that date, by a qualified mechanic or shop. That 30-day installation window is the condition people most often miss: an engine that sits in a garage for two months before it goes in is outside the terms.
The warranty covers the internal assembly we supplied. It does not cover the ancillary parts you carried over from the old engine, damage caused by an unresolved cooling or lubrication fault, or an installation performed without replacing the wear items the engine depends on - timing belt or chain tensioners where applicable, water pump, thermostat, engine oil and coolant, and the oil cooler lines on the 2GR units. Full terms are on our warranty page and in the refund policy.
How to confirm fitment before you order
An engine is the one part you cannot return casually, so confirm the match on five points before you buy:
- Year, make and model of the vehicle, including trim where the trim changes the engine (Corolla XRS, Focus ST, Forester XT, Mustang EcoBoost).
- Displacement in litres - 2.0L and 2.3L EcoBoost, or 2.5L and 2.0L Subaru, are physically different engines.
- Engine code exactly as cast or labelled: 3RZ-FE, 2GR-FE, 2GR-FKS, CAF488WQ2, CAF488WQ5, K24Z1, K24W9, G6DH.
- The engine digit of your VIN. On the Ford 1.0L that is the eighth digit (E). On the Toyota 2GR-FKS it is the fifth digit (Z). On several Audi and Hyundai units it is the fifth or eighth digit. This is the most reliable single check.
- Generation or intake variant where one exists: 1GR-FE Gen1 vs Gen2 Dual VVT-i, 3RZ-FE and 5VZ-FE 4-port vs 8-port intake, Theta II old type vs new type.
Confirm the fitment with Power Engines before you order. Call (877) 900-2695 or use the find your engine tool with your VIN to hand, and we will verify the code against your vehicle. If the wrong engine is fitted, the labour cost of removing it again is far higher than the engine itself, and a fitment error is not a warranty event.
Shipping, pickup and lead time
Engines ship on a pallet by freight carrier from our warehouse at 55 Thomas Rd N, Hawthorne, New Jersey 07506. Freight is quoted per destination at checkout, because a 400 pound palletised engine going to California does not cost the same as one going to Pennsylvania. You can also collect the engine in person at no charge, which is worth considering if you are within driving distance of northern New Jersey - it removes both the freight cost and the freight-damage risk.
Delivery is normally 2 business days once dispatched. Inspect the pallet before you sign for it: freight damage has to be noted on the carrier paperwork at the point of delivery, and a damage claim raised after the driver has left is much harder to settle. Details are in our shipping policy.
Remanufactured engine questions we get asked
Are remanufactured engines any good?
A properly remanufactured engine is machined back to the same tolerances the factory used, with new bearings, rings, seals, gaskets and timing components. Its reliability depends far more on the installation and on whether the fault that killed the original engine has been fixed than on the fact that the block was previously used. The failures we see reported are overwhelmingly cooling-system faults, oil-starvation faults and skipped wear parts, not the remanufactured assembly itself.
How long does a remanufactured engine last?
There is no honest single number, because it depends on the engine family, the installation and how the vehicle is used. What we can state is what we stand behind: 6 months from delivery, with installation inside 30 days. Treat any supplier quoting a mileage figure as a life expectancy rather than a warranty with suspicion.
Is a remanufactured engine cheaper than a new one?
On this catalogue, usually yes, but not always. The remanufactured median is $2,699 while brand new units start at $1,499 for some four-cylinder applications, because price is driven by the engine family and by availability rather than by condition. Compare the specific engine code both ways - brand new engines against this page - rather than assuming one condition is cheaper.
Do I have to send my old engine back?
No. There is no core charge and no core return on anything we sell. Your installer can dispose of the old engine locally.
What is not included with the engine?
Engines ship as bare long blocks. Intake and exhaust manifolds, turbocharger, injectors, sensors, accessory drives, flywheel or flexplate, clutch or torque converter and wiring all transfer from your existing engine.
Can I buy for a shop or fleet?
Yes. Trade pricing is handled through the dealer application, and fleet or multi-unit enquiries through our B2B page.
