The 1.6L Gamma four-cylinder is the entry point at $1,549; the 3.3L Lambda II V6 sits at the top at $4,299.

Every price on this page is the complete price of the engine. There is no core charge on any Kia engine we sell, so you are not asked to send your old block back or leave a deposit against it. Freight is quoted separately and is listed in full further down this page.

Kia Theta and Theta II engines: G4KC, G4KE, G4KH and G4KJ

Theta is the four-cylinder family behind most mid-size Kia models sold in the United States, and it is the largest part of our Kia inventory. Eleven of our 21 in-stock listings are Theta or Theta II. The codes are not interchangeable, and two of them split into a Gen 1 and a Gen 2 version that share a displacement but not a part.

G4KH 2.0L Turbo T-GDI

The turbocharged 2.0L Theta II is our deepest Kia stock position, with five listings and more than 150 units on hand. It splits into two generations. Gen 1 covers the 2011-2016 Sportage and the 2012-2015 Optima at $1,949; on the Optima listing the engine is identified by VIN digit 6 in the eighth position. Gen 2 covers the 2016-2018 Sorento, the 2016-2020 Optima and the 2017-2020 Sportage at $2,599. A Gen 1 block will not substitute for a Gen 2 application, so the model year matters as much as the code.

G4KJ 2.4L GDI

The naturally aspirated 2.4L Theta II direct-injection engine powers the volume Optima, Sorento and Sportage models. We currently hold the Gen 2 version in stock for the 2016-2020 Optima, the 2016-2020 Sorento and the 2017-2022 Sportage, all at $3,399. The earlier Gen 1 G4KJ listings are currently out of stock; they are described at the bottom of this page.

G4KC and G4KE 2.4L

G4KC is the original Theta 2.4L port-injected engine. We stock it for the 2006-2008 Optima and the 2007-2008 Rondo at $1,849, with 26 units between them, which makes it one of the easiest older Kia engines to source in the US right now. G4KE is the Theta II MPi 2.4L that followed it; both of our G4KE listings are out of stock at the moment.

Kia Gamma and Gamma II engines: G4FD and G4FJ

Gamma is the 1.6L four-cylinder family used in the smaller Kia range. It is also the cheapest way into a complete replacement engine on this page.

The naturally aspirated G4FD covers the 2012-2019 Rio and the 2012-2019 Soul at $1,549. The turbocharged G4FJ Gamma II T-GDI is the performance variant and is our widest Kia fitment spread: 2014-2018 Forte Koup and Forte5, 2016-2020 Optima, 2017-2019 Soul and 2020-2024 Forte Koup and Forte5, all at $1,849. Because the same G4FJ code spans four different nameplates and an eleven-year window, confirm the exact application before ordering rather than matching on displacement alone.

Kia Nu engines: G4NC 2.0L GDI

The Nu 2.0L is the non-turbo direct-injection four-cylinder used in the compact Kia range. We stock it for the 2014-2016 Forte and the 2014-2016 Soul at $1,999. Note that the Soul also had a 1.6L Gamma option in overlapping years, so the 2.0L and 1.6L Soul listings are not alternatives to each other.

Kia Lambda II V6: G6DH 3.3L

G6DH is the 3.3L V6 fitted to the larger Kia models. It is the only six-cylinder in our Kia range and the only Kia family we currently supply remanufactured rather than new. In stock: 2014-2016 Cadenza, 2014-2018 Sorento and 2015-2018 Sedona, each at $4,299 with four units on the shelf. New or remanufactured: what actually ships from this page

Both, and the difference is stated on every listing. Of the 21 Kia engines currently in stock, 18 are new and 3 are remanufactured - the three 3.3L G6DH V6 units. We do not describe the collection as entirely new, because it is not.

• New means the engine has not been in service. All four-cylinder Kia listings on this page are new.
• Remanufactured means the block has been disassembled, machined where required and rebuilt to a defined standard before testing. The G6DH V6 units are remanufactured.

If the condition matters more to you than the make, browse new engines or remanufactured engines directly. Both ship on the same warranty and the same no-core-charge terms.

How to identify your Kia engine code before you order

Displacement alone is not enough on a Kia. A 2.4L Sportage can be a G4KE, a Gen 1 G4KJ or a Gen 2 G4KJ depending on the year, and those are three different parts. A 2.0L Soul can be a G4NC or a G4NH. Work through this before you buy:

1. Year, model and trim. Kia changed engines mid-generation on several nameplates, so the model year is the first filter, not the last.
2. Displacement. 1.6L, 2.0L, 2.4L or 3.3L.
3. Aspiration. Turbo or naturally aspirated. On the 1.6L and 2.0L this is what separates G4FJ from G4FD and G4KH from G4NC.
4. Engine code. Read it from the engine itself or from your dealer service record. Several of our Kia listings name the code in the title for exactly this reason.
5. The VIN. On a number of Kia applications the engine is identified by the 8th character of the VIN. Two of our listings carry that character in the title (VIN 6 on the Gen 1 Optima 2.0T, VIN 7 and VIN D on the Forte 2.0L). Have your full VIN ready.

What comes with a Kia engine from Power Engines

Engines ship as bare long blocks with minimal external accessories. That is deliberate: it keeps the freight cost and the price down, and your original external parts are usually serviceable.

Plan on your installer reusing your intake and exhaust manifolds, sensors, alternator, starter, power steering pump, air conditioning compressor, wiring harness and any bracketry. Budget for new gaskets, seals, fluids and a timing service as part of the install. If you are unsure whether a specific accessory transfers on your application, ask us before the engine ships.

No core charge on any Kia engine

Most remanufactured-engine suppliers hold a core deposit and release it only after your old engine is returned, crated and inspected. We do not. There is no core charge on any engine on this page, new or remanufactured. You are not asked to ship the old block back, you are not asked to fund a deposit, and there is no refund to chase weeks after the job is finished. The price you see is the price of the engine.

Warranty and the 30-day installation window

• Coverage runs 6 months from the delivery date.
• The engine must be installed within 30 days of delivery. This window is strict.
• Installation must be carried out by an ASE-certified shop. Keep the invoice; it is required if a claim is opened.
• Coverage applies to internal lubricated parts.
• Cracks are not covered. Covers, seals and gaskets are not warranted.

Shipping, freight cost and free New Jersey pickup

Orders placed before 2pm EST ship the same day. Engines move as freight, and the rate depends on where you are and what the delivery site can handle.

If the delivery point has a dock or a forklift, choose the business rate; if the truck has to lower the pallet to the ground, you need the liftgate rate. We do not ship directly to Hawaii, Alaska or Puerto Rico.

Local buyers: delivery is free within 30 miles of our warehouse at 55 Thomas Rd N, Hawthorne, New Jersey, and pickup at the warehouse is free from anywhere. Northern New Jersey and New York metro shops regularly collect Kia engines from us the same day. Full terms are on our shipping policy.

Returns

Returns are accepted within 30 days. An unboxed engine is subject to a 20% restocking fee, so if there is any doubt about fitment, confirm the engine code with us before the crate is opened rather than after. The full policy is on our refund policy page.

Not reliably. Kia used several different 2.4L four-cylinders - G4KC, G4KE and two generations of G4KJ - across overlapping years and models. Match the engine code and the application, not the displacement, and confirm with us against your VIN before ordering.

What is the difference between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 G4KH?

They are different parts with the same displacement. Gen 1 covers the 2011-2016 Sportage and 2012-2015 Optima at $1,949; Gen 2 covers the 2016-2018 Sorento, 2016-2020 Optima and 2017-2020 Sportage at $2,599. They are not substitutes for one another.

How long is the warranty?
