POWER ENGINES provides warranty for certain items sold and guarantees protection from defects in manufacturing (of internal lubricated parts) purchased in the form of a bare long block when properly installed by an ASE certified shop and under normal driving conditions (does not include racing or hard loads/wear) for a specified period of time (and distance if applicable) under the conditions as follows:
New and Remanufactured engines: Performance and part warranty valid for 6 months from the date of delivery, signed and time stamped. Proof of warranty will include state issued ID card, valid invoice and item serial number to match.
Installation Period: Every item sold has a strict 30 day installation period. Items must be installed during the installation period for the warranty to be valid.
Covered Components: The following components are covered in gasoline or diesel engines: pistons, piston pins, piston rings, crankshaft and main bearings, connecting rods and rod bearings, camshaft bearings, intake and exhaust valves, valve springs, push rods, rocker arms and rocker arm shafts.
Block and Heads: The engine block and cylinder heads are covered only if damaged by Covered Components. Cracks are not covered under this warranty.
Replacement Parts: In case of a defect or failure of our engine, our obligation is limited to repairing or replacing damaged, defective, or broken Covered Components as set forth above. It is the sole decision of POWER ENGINES whether to replace the engine or to replace Covered Components, or provide a Refund (partial or full). Replacement of any parts or engine will be completed only once under this Warranty and then it shall be void, and the obligations of POWER ENGINES shall be deemed fully satisfied. Repairs or replacements do not extend or renew this Warranty.
POWER ENGINES does not cover labor costs, downtime, towing charges, freight charges, rental reimbursement, and comprehensive insurance claims.
No core charges or returns.
Customer Obligations:
-
Installation done by certified ASE shop during the 30 day installation window which begins the day this item is delivered and signed for.
-
Reattachment of all accessories, emissions, and external components from original engine as per factory specifications and operating standards. Install new timing belt, water pump tensioner on belt driven engines. For chain driven engines: New, dry, timing chain engines will have a clicking noise. This is a normal timing chain noise.
-
Prime the engine with oil prior to start to ensure oil build up and proper internal lubrication of all covered components prior to operating the engine.
Breaking in a new engine is a way to condition the engine’s internal components for its role in the overall life of the vehicle. In particular, this “breaking in” allows the piston’s rings to properly mate up to the cylinder’s walls, preventing long-term wear that could lead to oil consumption, poor performance, or both.
Typically, an engine’s break-in period is within the first 500 to 1,000 miles. Pushing the engine too hard early on—which might be enticing if it’s a sports car or other performance vehicle—may cause certain engine components to not seat correctly, like the piston rings, rod bearings, or other crucial parts of its overall function.
The key is to be gradual and patient. Driving the car gently during these initial miles helps ensure minimal premature wear.
The easiest way to break in an engine is to simply take it easy. Keep it spinning under 4,000 rpm (revolutions per minute, as indicated on the tachometer in the gauge cluster) within the first 500-1,000 miles. After that, revving up the engine higher should be fine. If the car has a manual transmission, make sure to keep the shifts low in the rev band, which is often referred to as short-shifting. Hard acceleration early puts too much strain on the piston rings and cylinders, which could shorten the engine’s overall life.
-
Perform 500 mile engine maintenance check up. Change engine oil and filter. After this continue with oil changes regularly at factory recommended intervals.
